A new fire station for the Millersville Rural Fire Protection District that was designed and built for the community of Millersville, MO, is now complete. It houses 6,589 square feet that includes three apparatus bays and features updated building systems which enable the volunteer fire fighters to better serve the community of Millersville.

DILLE POLLARD Architecture is pleased to have been part of the Design-build team for the Cape Girardeau Fire Station No. 4, located in the Laurel Grove neighborhood on Lexington Avenue in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The new fire station is 12,248 sf and contains three large apparatus bays with overhead doors on both the north and south sides of the building. Individual bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, offices and exercise room were included in the design, as well as, a second story training area for special rescue operations.
The new library facility is approximately 3,965 square feet and is situated on property located outside of the 100 year floodplain. A computer area, teen area and young children’s area were developed as part of the interior plan.
The new Dunklin County Public Library is 10,000 square feet and provides stack areas, work and meeting rooms, and public computer access. The traditional design blends well with the park and residential surroundings.
The Municipal Utilities building is a two-story (plus full basement) office facility with a total of 31,000 square feet. It houses administration, engineering, conference and board room, assembly space and an area for network and storage. The exterior design is brick and stone to blend with the surrounding historic downtown area.
The two-story Department of Public Safety facility includes dispatch, offices, booking, EOC training and three holding cells with 15 beds. It contains a total 38,000 square feet within the three levels. The exterior design is brick and stone to blend with the surrounding historic downtown area. The building site is part of a downtown redevelopment area that includes the Municipal Utilities and other developments.
The Poplar Bluff Housing Authority administration building serves as a local headquarters for the area’s government housing. The 11,000 square foot facility is fully equipped with security and sprinkler systems and a 100% backup generator.
The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is located in an historic downtown building that is in the process of renovation and is currently undergoing removal and replacement of their roof.
The Poplar Bluff Public Library has undergone a complete interior major renovation and expansion of an existing 1930’s public library building. The Children’s Library area includes space for story time assembly, a toddler’s area, a media center and a young adult room. A new curved stair is a dynamic design feature and provides direct circulation to the lower level. Recently, a new roof was installed on the majority of the building.
The new Sikeston Housing Authority building serves as the local headquarters for the area housing authority. The new building features brick veneer and was designed and constructed with new parking, sidewalks, curbs, driveways, street connections, landscaping and site lighting.
